Direction & Parking

UPDATE : Virginia Tech will be hosting Softball Super Regionals, and as a result, a portion of Beamer Way will be closed off. Parking is in the same place as before, but the South Endzone Lot 2 will only be accessible via Southgate Drive. After teams drop off their bridge (no changes), the will have to loop around on Washington St. to Duck Pond Dr. to Southgate Dr. to go to the parking lot. Please see the labelled street map below.

Please reference the Campus Maps direction document below for maps on allowed parking locations and how to get to the parking lot outside of Lane Stadium. Parking for competition is limited to Lot 2 beneath the south end zone of Lane Stadium (see map). Parking outside designated areas on campus is subjected to ticketing and towing on weekdays until 10PM. We highly recommend utilizing Google Maps to aid in campus/town navigation.

Travel

Airport ↔ Campus

The nearest major airport to Blacksburg is Roanoke Regional Airport (RAO). The approximate highway distance between the airport and Blacksburg is 40 miles. There is a SmartWay bus route that picks up directly from the airport and arrives at Squires Student Center on campus ($4 one way).

The next closest airports are the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) at approximately 177 miles away and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) at approximately 178 miles away.

Other Travel Options

The Amtrak is an affordable and comfortable train option that stops in Roanoke. The SmartWay picks up from the train station and arrives at Squires Student Center on campus ($4 one way) - note that the last bus of the day will wait at the train station regardless of delays. The Megabus is another option that drops off at Squires.

Local Travel

The BT transit system runs at reduced hours during the summer and can be utilized as transportation to and from campus and hotels. Within campus, all competition venues are within reasonable walking distance.

All attendees/participants of the SSBC event are responsible for their own transportation arrangements.
