Travel Logistics

Teams are responsible for the transportation of students and bridges to/from the competition and on campus. Additionally, there are NO ride-share options (Uber, Lyft, etc.) in Ruston. A personal car for all team members is necessary for the competition weekend. 

Flying to Shreveport Regional Airport

The nearest major airport to Louisiana Tech University is Shreveport Regional Airport. The approximate highway distance between the airport and Ruston is 70 miles and is about a 1.5 hour long drive. There are six rental car companies located at the airport terminal. We recommend reserving vehicles as soon as you have your travel arrangements confirmed. 


Flying to Monroe Regional Airport

Additionally, the Monroe Regional Airport is approximately 35 miles from Ruston and is a 45 minute long drive. This airport is smaller than the Shreveport Regional Airport and has fewer amenities and potential rental car options. 


Flying to Dallas/ Fort Worth International Regional Airport

The nearest international airport to Ruston is the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The approximate highway distance between the airport and Ruston is 260 miles. Travel time would take approximately 4.5 hours of driving. This airport will have more flights available and more rental car options compared to the other two airports. 

Shipping Your Bridge

Bridges can be shipped to the Trenchless Technology Center on Louisiana Tech University's South Campus. If you are shipping your bridge to us, please reach out before May 15th to Reed Edwards at rre014@latech.edu. We will start accepting bridges on May 15th.

Additionally, teams are responsible for picking up their bridge from the shipping location on competition weekend. A time designated on Friday morning before the aesthetics competition for teams to pick up their bridge. Teams are also responsible for all costs associated with bridge shipping as well as the return shipping logistics. Louisiana Tech will not store any bridges following the competition.
