Travel Logistics

Teams are responsible for the transportation of students and bridges to/from the competition. 

Flying to El Paso International Airport (ELP)

The nearest major airport to The University of Texas at El Paso is the El Paso International Airport. The approximate highway distance between the airport and The University of Texas at El Paso is 8.3 miles.

Transportation in El Paso

With the exception of the social event on Friday night, all competition events will be held at the El Paso Convention Center, located in downtown El Paso. 

Rideshare services (Lyft, Uber, etc.) are readily available. If you are driving or renting a car, parking information for the event will be provided at a later date. 

The El Paso Streetcar is also a convenient and free option for getting around downtown and to UTEP. The streetcar runs on two routes (Downtown Loop and the UTEP Loop) with multiple stops throughout downtown, the El Paso Convention Center area, and the UTEP campus. Cars typically arrive every 10–15 minutes, depending on the route and time of day, making it an easy way to travel between the competition venue, hotels downtown, and UTEP.

Shipping Your Bridge

Bridges can be shipped to the El Paso Convention Center in advance. The Convention Center will hold the bridges until the event. Note that storage may incur fees, which will be disclosed prior to coordinating shipping. Schools are also responsible for all costs associated with bridge shipments, as well as the return shipping logistics following the competition. Neither UTEP nor the El Paso Convention Center will be responsible for shipping bridges after the competition. Note that the competition occurs over Memorial Day weekend, which may influence shipping logistics.
